Sign-Up for the Orlando Meeting Dine Arounds

We have created an electronic sign-up for the SC/MLA Annual Meeting dine arounds in Orlando on Friday, October 26. Groups will meet in the Wyndham Hotel lobby at 6 p.m.

If you are a new member and haven’t had a chance to meet many of your new colleagues this is a great way to meet some new friends and enjoy dinner. Sign up here as a facilitator (to lead the group) or as an attendee.

Restaurants:

• Bongo's Cuban Cafe
• Morimoto Asia
• Paddlefish
• STK Orlando

As of 10/17, two of the restaurants still need facilitators: Morimoto Asia and Paddlefish. Please consider leading one of these groups. Reservations have already been made. We just need someone to lead the group to the restaurants which are all in Disney Springs right next door to the hotel.

Don't Forget to Nominate! Beatty MLA Volunteer Service Award

The Beatty MLA Volunteer Service Award recognizes a medical librarian who has demonstrated outstanding, sustained service to the Medical Library Association (MLA) and the health sciences library profession.

Criteria:

• Current member of MLA and for the last 10 years
• Nominee should have made exceptional contributions to furthering the mission, goals, and objectives of MLA and the profession as demonstrated by outstanding and significant service in the association’s leadership, publications, research, special projects, or combination of these four elements
• Nominee must not have served on the MLA Board of Directors or received a national MLA award prior to the time of nomination.

SC/MLA...Just Around the Corner!

The 68^th SC/MLA Annual Meeting is just around the corner! If you haven’t given much thought to the meeting venue, now’s the perfect time to take a look at what the Orlando has to offer. The Wyndham Lake Buena Vista is located within walking distance of the Disney Springs area, which might be worth exploring if you find yourself with some time to spare. And be sure to keep an eye out for more information about the Welcome Reception and Banquet – two popular events you won’t want to miss.

Temperatures will range from the upper 60’s to the lower 80’s, but it looks like there might be some rain on first day or so of the meeting. Don’t forget to pack an umbrella! You’ll find key information about the hotel and getting to and from the meeting on the website.
